Kids' Bathroom Remodel
This was the first design remodel project for Matt and I.
As you can see, we didn’t move walls on this one but we replaced just about every surface.
Our townhome is a three bedroom two-and-a-half bath. This particular bathroom services two bedrooms so replacing the single sink vanity with a double sink top just made sense.
We chose a basic white subway tile sourced from Home Depot. The price per case is right and the quality is comparable to the Tile Shop and other vendors. The one draw back is finding matching trim pieces (bullnose) can be tough. If you’re remodeling your own bathroom, it’s good to know your exact tile layout before you make purchases so you can be sure your vendor has both the tile you want as well as the matching trim tiles.
The robin's egg blue pennyround floor tile came from Overstock. Amazon is also a great source for tile, you can actually get free shipping on something as heavy as a palette of tile when you order with Prime. Pretty crazy!
We found a truly adorable paper on Wayfair that ended up being $30/yard…which was just out of the budget for us. We ended up going with this ‘look for less,’ also from Wayfair. This product was appealing because it was peel and stick which saved us some time.
We kept the existing mirror but replaced the old vanity lights with this milk glass piece from Wayfair. The 1920s look seemed playful and kept things light, so to speak.
We also kept the existing tub to stay within our budget.
The hardware for the closet door is a bronze lever from Home Depot that matches the rest of the house.
The total cost of materials for this project was about $2,500. Even if you’re doing it on a budget, a bathroom remodel can start at about $5,000 if you’re not doing the work yourself.

Happy remodeling!
